Mexicali

 

Mexicali is located in Baja California of Mexico on the Pacific coast. The residents, or cachanillas, are from culturally diverse backgrounds, including people of African and European descent. The city of Mexicali is a trading post area for many travelers, and is home to an array of events and festivities custom to this area of Mexico.

 

The Baja Prog Festival is a four-day internationally recognized music event held in Mexicali. The Plaza Calafia is well-known for its corridas, or bullfights. The Plaza la Cachanilla is a common area where the locals congegate and sell to the tourists wonderfully handcrafted works of art. This plaza is the most popular place for tourists to purchase gifts to take back home. There are at least 11 theaters in Mexicali that present outstanding theatrical operas and ballets. Any tourist in Mexicali should make a point to experience at least one performance from the theater. Sporting events include basketball, baseball, football and American football, and can be viewed ringside from an arena in Mexicali.


The climate of Mexicali is extremely arid and dry, with very little rainfall all year long. Tourists visiting the city of Mexicali should have plenty of wonderful weather in which to experience all there is to offer. Of course, the restaurants, taco bars and nightclubs are also main attractions for visitors hoping to experience some of the memorable party life that Mexicali is known for. With the drinking age at 18, young students travel from Southern California to enjoy the night life. This should be noted for families who are taking their young children into Mexicali. The excitement and fun of the city can be enjoyed by any age.
